Campus Safety Coordinators & PEARL
Creating a Safer Campus Environment for Students, Faculty & Staff
Whatever your role - Campus Life, Facilities or Safety - thank you for your efforts to make your students, faculty & staff safer on campus. At PEARL Protected, our mission is to reduce the number of deaths and injuries caused by fire and other emergencies by providing a reliable, easy-to-use escape solution.
On September 23, 2008 the House passed H.R. 642: The College Fire Prevention Act to establish the Honorable Stephanie Tubbs Jones Fire Suppression Demonstration Incentive Program within the Department of Education. This Act is intended to promote installation of fire sprinkler systems, or other fire suppression or prevention technologies, in qualified student housing and dormitories, and for other purposes. Grants will be awarded on a competitive basis to colleges and universities, as well as eligible sororities and fraternities, to provide technologically advanced fire safety equipment in student housing units. Since January 2000, 94 people have been killed in sixty-six separate campus related fires. Nearly 80 percent of these fire fatalities have occurred in off-campus occupancies such as rented houses and apartments within three miles of the campus.

PEARL is the world’s first-of-its-kind permanent escape ladder.
By installing PEARL-Permanent Escape And Rescue Ladders in campus housing,
classroom buildings and offices, you can provide a critical path to escape.
PEARL has garnered significant accolades for its utility in aiding the
escape from fire, home invasion and other emergencies. It has been embraced
by safety professionals, firefighters, home builders and consumers. Now
the time has come for its mission to include campus safety.
